Second part of the Trilogy of Spectatorship - Encounter Through the Fourth Wall
Performing arts have liberated spectators of their passive role in the unlit part of the theatre and offered them a new position. Since the beginning of her trilogy, Jenny Beyer has been inviting her audiences to rehearsals and performances in order to explore, and possibly to change, the relationship between viewer and dance. While "Liebe", the first part of the trilogy, established a physical closeness to this theme, in Glas, the audience sits far away from the stage. How can the viewers still be involved in what is happening on stage? And how can this distance stir and touch them? Jenny Beyer makes the fourth wall porous in her new performance piece, turning the theatrical zero line into a requirement for new experiences.
